ABOUT DR. P. KUMAR, India

 

One of India's leading wildlife photographers-authors. Has published widely at both national & international levels. His stock imagery was represented by the erstwhile M/S Planet Earth Pictures, London. Small stock files are still available with M/S Sunset Agence Photographique, Paris, and M/S Getty Images (through Taxi).


Dr. Kumar, 56, has been teaching Zoology at the University of Delhi for about 30 years. He began practising wildlife photography as a natural extension of his academic occupation about 15 years ago.

 

One of Dr. Kumar's more immediate undertakings is to provide a true online international exposure to Indian Wildlife. His first-ever Indian Wildlife website (WILDLIFE CHRONICLE at http://www.cranes.org) is one of the biggest such undertaking on the web. This site was followed by Dr. Kumar's safari site (PREMIUM RANTHAMBORE SAFARIS at http://www.supersafaris.com) - meant for personalized safaris & workshops conducted by Dr. Kumar exclusively at Ranthambore National Park & Tiger Reserve.

02. NATURAL HISTORY Magazine (American Museum of Natural History, New York) used eight of Dr. Kumar's pictures in its November, '98 issue - including the COVER picture (see above) - all as part of a feature entitled,"A Monsoon Delivers Storks".

 

03.  HEXAGONO Magazine (Argentina) used some of Dr. Kumar's Painted Storks pictures in its September,'99 issue. They were supplied online image scans.

04. TIME/LIFE Books Series (USA) featured a Painted Stork picture in February,'99.

05. PHOTOGRAPHIER LES ANIMUX, Observations, Techniques et Conseils  (France), a book brought out by Larousse-Bordas, and edited by Albert Visage & Claude Jardel, included Dr. Kumar as one of the leading 38 international nature/wildlife photographers featured in their book.

06. The INK GROUP Publishers Ltd. (England) used Dr. Kumar's image for its Animal Humour Series greeting cards.
